About The Cromehurst Foundation
Over 20 years ago, the parents and principal at Cromehurst School decided that, to gain their maximum level of independence, each student needed to acquire “living skills”. for many families the pace of ordinary life leaves little time to provide the intensive one to one training necessary to develop those skills. To fill that gap, the Advanced Living Skills program was established at Cromehurst Cottage, a lovely house adjacent to the school.
So the parent owned Cromehurst Foundation was established, to pursue accommodation, life style and work objectives for people with disabilities. In addition to operating the Cottage, the Foundation raises funds to support the school, and operates other projects to benefit our students and the wider Cromehurst Family

The Cottage
A group of students ( usually 3-5) attend the Cottage for one night up to a full week. Monday to Friday. Students attend school or their work program during the day time, and usually access the Cottage at least once per term. Each student participates, to the extent appropriate, in shopping, cleaning, cooking, housework, gardening, washing and general household duties. Students access the local community for shops and restaurants.
An individual program is developed for each student, identifying their own goals and the next steps toward attaining their maximum level of independence. Each student will learn different skills depending on age and ability.
Students have a great time at the cottage, enjoying evening activities such as disco nights, videos, and restaurant outings or cinema.
The Living Skills Coordinator
The Cottage is managed by a Living Skills Coordinator. This Coordinator is in association with the Chromhurst Staff and is the contact for the parents. The current living skills coordinator is Kylie Moody. We have had many fabulous Coordinators in the past, such as Sue Ryan, Louise Bexon and Jan Duncan.
